Experience

  • Two to five years of experience in LMS administration and management

  • Familiarity with SCORM and Tin Can API standards

  • Experience with web accessibility and compliance

  • Strong technical skills, including experience with online collaboration tools

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills while managing multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated strength in interpersonal communications to provide program managers with the support they require

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Understanding of adult learning and instructional design principles

  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office and Adobe suite of product

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field (education, instructional design, or computer science)

What is an LMS Specialist

lms-1The LMS Specialist is responsible for the correct setup, upload, and configuration of the learning assets and courses in the Learning Management System for effective use by end users.

This individual will work closely with key stakeholders such as instructional technologists, subject matter experts, and training managers to support content curation and maintaining course structures and that the LMS is configured and utilized in the most effective manner possible.

They may also take on the role of managing the day-to-day administration of the LMS, ensuring all aspects of the system are up-to-date, accurate, and functioning properly.


Responsibilities:

  • Course Configuration and Management: Work with instructional designers and subject matter experts to set up, upload, and configure learning assets and courses in the LMS. This includes tasks such as creating course shells, uploading content, configuring course settings, and assigning learners

  • Content Management: Manage the day-to-day administration of the LMS, including tasks such as updating content, managing users and permissions, and creating and maintaining course catalogs.

  • User Management: Manage and maintain user accounts, including creating new accounts, updating user information, and resetting passwords as needed.

  • Reporting and Analytics: Generate and analyze LMS usage data and reports, this can include things like tracking learner progress, identifying areas where improvements can be made, and providing reports to key stakeholders.

  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to end users, such as instructors and learners, on how to effectively use the LMS and its features. This includes creating documentation, and tutorials, and providing ongoing support as needed.

The LMS Consultant is responsible for researching, selecting, and implementing a new Learning Management System for an organization. This individual will work closely with key stakeholders to understand the organization's needs and goals for the LMS, and then use this knowledge to research and evaluate different LMS options.

Once a new LMS has been selected, the LMS Consultant will work with internal teams and vendor partners to implement the new system and ensure it is fully functional and ready for use by the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research to identify and evaluate different LMS options that align with the organizational goals and requirements including use cases. This can include researching LMS vendors, attending webinars and demos, and conducting trial evaluations.

  • Selection and Implementation: Write RFQ/RFPs based on findings and invite potential vendors to bid. Once a new LMS has been selected, the LMS consultant will work closely with internal teams and vendor partners to plan and implement the new system. This can include tasks such as configuring the LMS, integrating it with other systems, and training internal teams on how to use it.
