Instructional Design Services: Visualize Through Storyboarding

Previously, in our Course Development Tips – How to Build a Good Design Plan post, we wrote about the importance of having a good design plan in place before jumping into development to ensure the success of a corporate training program.  For an eLearning course, instructional design services should also include creating a visual storyboard as part of that plan.  A great storyboard will save time, money and avoid clients being surprised or disappointed by the end results.  A visual storyboard is, in essence, a bridge between what is envisioned and what will be.

Training Consultants: Design a Balanced Train-the-Trainer Program

Design a Balanced Train-the-Trainer Program

Definition: A train-the-trainer model enables experienced personnel to show a less-experienced instructor how to deliver and facilitate courses, workshops and seminars. A well executed train-the-trainer program can build a pool of competent instructors who can then teach the material to other people.

You need to plan a Train-the-Trainer session for a number of training consultants to facilitate a large program rollout. Not only do they need to understand the content they'll be training, but they need to be proficient training consultants as well. What do you consider when planning so that your Train-the-Trainer program is a successful?

There is no absolute formula to determining what is needed for a Train-the-Trainer program. Each training need is unique to its environment and circumstance. However, investing time in planning will always make for success during the training rollout.

Course Development Tips –How to Build a Good Design Plan

"Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works." - Steve Jobs

It seems like a logical progression - design your corporate training program, then develop it.  But often, a good upfront corporate design plan – if it exists at all - is pushed aside as we rush to develop the course first.  This results in the content being written and forced to fit into the course development schedule as opposed to the course development emerging from a good design plan.
